Fifth Anniversary of Quebec Mosque Massacre
Today is the fifth anniversary of the Quebec City Mosque Massacre. On that horrific day, six Muslim men were murdered. Their names are:
Azzeddine Soufiane; Khaled Belkacemi; Aboubaker Thabti; Mamadou Tanou; Ibrahima Barry and Abdelkrim Hassane
They will not be forgotten.
That day was the realization of a fear that Muslims in Canada have: that we are a target for violence because of our faith. In the years since, Islamophobic attacks are continuing. Just this week a Muslim woman was the target of hate in Edmonton. This is unacceptable.
On this anniversary, we stand united with all those fighting against Islamophobia and all other forms of hate. We must do better so no one lives in fear of another attack.
