CMPJ is deeply committed to a peaceful two-state solution in Israel and Palestine. Canadian Muslims for Peace and Justice (CMPJ) condemns the forced evictions of Palestinian families in Sheikh Jarra and the use of extreme force against worshippers at Al-Aqsa mosque in the last most holy nights of Ramadan. These actions put a two-state solution at risk.
Furthermore, we support yesterday’s statement by the United Nations reaffirming that International Humanitarian Law applies in East Jerusalem, and that the forced evictions are illegal.
We call on the Government of Canada to denounce the expansion of illegal settlements in East Jerusalem, which victimizes Palestinian families, as well as the attacks on worshippers at Al-Aqsa mosque. We thank those Members of Parliament who have already come forward.
CMPJ also calls upon the United Nations to convene the UN Security Council to demand an immediate halt to the illegal actions by the Israeli authorities in occupied West Bank and Jerusalem. and Jerusalem.
